With this month’s release of the New Super Mario Bros. 2 game for Nintendo 3DS, Mario and his cronies are back in the spotlight. This time, the game is dripping with even more gold coins to collect. For the occasion, here is a handmade Super Mario Bros. Skirt featuring two awesome worlds from Super Mario Bros. 3.
Half of the skirt features the map from World 2, the sandy desert. Just the site of the skirt brings back the mysterious and annoying tune heard in the game and all the memories of quicksand, dancing cactus dudes, Shy Guys and potions. Then, the other half of the skirt features the water world where Mario spends most of his time dodging deadly fish and squids (hated those.) Remember how amazing it was to discover that Mario could do more advance things like swim, dig, throw and soar?
Super Mario Bros. 3 Skirt
- For sale is an original design Mario Work Two Levels inspired full skirt! This design features one Mario World level on front and another on the back! Images are slightly blurred for a more nostalgic look. The skirt is 100% cotton with a 2″ wide black comfortable elastic waistband.
- Skirt is 19″ from top of waistband to hem. Due to printing process, gentle hand wash cold to avoid fading over time
- Please allow 2-3 weeks for me to make as all fabric is special ordered. In “note to seller”, please put your smallest waist measurement and your pant size.
- Skirt in photo is shown with tulle petticoat (not included), they can be found reasonably at any costume shop
The skirt features a big elastic waistband to accentuate the slimmest part of your abs, the waist. Then the fabric flares out with colorful print to fall away from the body and flatter your figure. For a dramatic effect, slip on a petticoat to make the skirt pouf out like Princess Peach’s dress, which by the way allowed her to have the most hang time in the game. Slip on some leggings underneath to achieve a polished look of the 90’s.

Not sure if it was called “SMB2” in Japan (from the wiki article I looked up there is no indication of that) but in the states and elsewhere it was called Super Mario Bros 3.
Just checked the Nintendo website…New Super Mario Bros. 2, for the Nintendo 3DS…in reference to the game release mentioned in first paragraph
But…those are Nintendo graphics or graphics recreated in one of the remakes, but they are not 3DS graphics. You can Google “SMB3 Map World 2” or “…World 4” and that’s exactly what they look like.
It looks like you can see the stage (course) select here: http://newsupermariobros2.nintendo.com/courses/
This is “Super Mario Bros 3” and not “New Super mario Bros 2” unless you can show otherwise. SMB3 has way more nostalgia factor anyways so they should correct the title if I’m right here.
I agree with you about the images on the dress, they look like SMB3…of course I could have saved us both some time and emailed the designer, but then we wouldn’t have gotten to spend time reminiscing about some of our favorite games 🙂
Haha true! 😀
