Of course, everyone knows that it takes a portal to enter the realm of fantasy. That’s exactly what you’ll get with this starter pack. In addition to the wireless, battery-operated portal and video game, you’ll get three action figures that activate via the portal and come to life on screen. Spyro is the dragon, Gill Grunt is the gillman (fish/man?), and Trigger Happy is the gremlin who seems to have trained with John Woo. The three allies, along with the other 30-odd Skylanders (which can be purchased separately), are determined to fight to save themselves from being banished from Skyland to Earth forever by the sinister human, appropriately named Kaos.
The starter pack also comes with two AA batteries for the portal. Rumor has it that the batteries get drained pretty quickly, so be sure to deactivate the portal when it’s not in use, or keep your screwdriver and rechargeable batteries handy. And no RPG is complete without trading cards, which you’ll find in the set.
Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventures is designed for multiple players, so each player gets to become a Skylander. Two action figures can be on the portal at once, and each player can switch characters depending on whom they place on the portal. Skylanders can enter into Skyland at any time, and the progress of each creature will be saved on the game.
