Chess Masters can have games that last hours or even days as they strategically outmaneuver each other at every turn, but that won’t happen with the Ice Speed Chess Set. Any games played with these pieces will have to be fast.
These Silicone Ice molds will create frozen chess pieces that you can play with, until they melt. Fill them with your favorite drink for a chess game played with popsicles if you like. You get two molds so that you can make two sets of chess pieces, giving you enough for a full game.
You’ll need your own Chess board of course. These are just $12.99 per set from ThinkGeek.
This looks like a great product. Although I suspect the chess enthusiasts who buy it will simply use them as novelty ice cube trays. But hey, what great ice cubes!
But there is 1 flaw.
How do you know which side is yours?
You can use different colors of juice or Kool-Aid for the different sides. However, as Julian mentioned in the other comment, I think these will mainly be used as novelty ice cubes for chess players to put in their drinks rather than as playing pieces.
Food coloring in one set would probably be better than using juices, since it could get pretty sticky otherwise.
