Genuine Balancing Siphon Coffee Maker

Coffee. Java. Joe. It doesn’t matter what you call it, this glorious liquid is what jump-starts the day for most of us, and the Genuine Balancing Siphon Coffee Maker transforms the act of making coffee into the art form it should be.

There’s no doubt that flicking the switch on your standard coffee maker will result in the same life-giving brew, but why not make the act of making coffee as glorious as sipping that first cup? This stylish maker, based on the one invented by Loeff of Berlin in the 1830’s, takes coffee-making back to the early 19th century, making the creation of coffee resemble a scientist creating some never-before-seen concoction.

An alcohol burner heats water inside the copper kettle to 212º F, causing it to pass through the pipette and into the lead crystal brewing chamber, where it steeps the coffee grounds at the ideal temperature. As water exits the kettle, the integrated counterweight and hinge elevate the vessel, allowing the spring-loaded candle snuffer to cover and extinguish the alcohol burner’s flame… because it’s still early and your brain is still craving caffeine so you might not remember to snuff the flame yourself. Automation is good before coffee, especially automation from another century.

As the water begins to cool slightly in the brewing chamber, the internal pressure is lowered and a vacuum is created that draws the brewed coffee back to the kettle, with the pipette’s filter making sure the coffee grounds don’t make the return trip, too.

The brewing chamber is made from 100% lead crystal. The candle snuffer, pipette, and spigot are made of brass, and the kettle is solid copper. And it all fits on the included mahogany base.
