Disney has a busy 2019, with many live-action remakes of treasured animated films from the past. There’s Dumbo coming in March, Aladdin in March, and The Lion King in July (it is technically computer animated, but since it is photorealistic, it’s like it’s live action). Directed by Jon Favreau, who also did the live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book in 2016, The Lion King features amazing CGI and an all-star cast that includes Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amy Sedaris, Billy Eichner, Keegan-Michael Key, Eric André, and John Oliver.

Disney’s The Lion King opens in theatres July 19, 2019.

Director Jon Favreau’s all-new “The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. Utilizing pioneering filmmaking techniques to bring treasured characters to life in a whole new way, Disney’s “The Lion King” roars into theaters on July 19, 2019.
