Not many things would be more exciting than exploring the ocean deep, and you could do it for real with the U-Boat Worx 5 Person Exploration Submarine. This is no toy—this submarine can dive to 200M (656 feet) and has a 16 hour endurance. It has room for a pilot, plus 4 passengers, and weighs in at 7,345 kg (16,193 lbs). It uses lithium-ion battery technology to give it the best performance with the lowest weight and has a MANTA controller to allow for pinpoint precision maneuvering.

While exploring a shipwreck or photographing a thriving coral reef is very exciting, you naturally may have safety concerns when riding in a real submarine. Fortunately, this U-Boat Worx C Explorer 5 submarine is loaded with safety features. It has automatic maximum depth protection, that causes it to automatically rise if it finds itself too deep. There is a drop weight you can manually release in an emergency to give the submersible the buoyancy it needs to rise. It also features a deadman’s switch, to automatically resurface if the pilot stops responding. On top of this it has a pinger that sends out a pulse to the surface that pinpoints the subs location, and it also has a safety buoy with a Dyneema rope that marks the position on the surface and allows the submarine to be pulled up.

This is the five-person submersible that can descend to a depth of 656′ for accessing reefs, wrecks, and rare underwater species. It keeps all explorers safe inside a climate-controlled 3 1/4″-thick acrylic pressure sphere that enables conversation, unlike SCUBA diving. The craft meets all the safety guidelines of the International Maritime Organization and is classified by Germanischer Lloyd with two independent life support systems that provide data on depth, internal pressure, temperature, battery status, thruster status and trim tanks status. Its two horizontal thrusters provide fore, aft, and directional control in addition to a maximum submersed speed of 2 1/2 knots (4 knots surface) while two vertical thrusters provide up and down control. Its 130- and 24-volt Lithium-ion battery banks provide up to eight hours of continuous undersea adventure. The craft’s dual-pontoon structure and broad freeboard ensure superior surface stability, even in high sea conditions. A VHF radio provides surface communication while its underwater telephone communicates while submerged.

Not surprisingly, the U-Boat Worx 5 Person Exploration Submarine carries a hefty price. It is $2,700,000 to buy it at Hammacher Schlemmer. Fortunately, that price includes comprehensive training so you can get the most out of your new sub.
