  1. If it wasn’t so stupidly expensive, I’d consider buying one just to have some fun when out & about, lacking anything sensible to do…

  2. @ strider_mt2k: True, that’s one situation where a phone jammer actually would be quite useful.

@ meks: I’m not selling it, I’m simply saying it’s available elsewhere.

    Thanks for stopping by folks!

  3. There are lots of companies that sell these online – both less expensive and more, depending on function. Just do a search for cell phone jammers

  4. What here may be illegal? The don’t block any other cellphones.. it block only “own” phones. And I think not block but simply create some noise. For example if you will be in deep mine, could you accept the call if there will not be signal amplifier there? I think no… So it is almost real situation.

  5. Many things that are illegal to USE are NOT illegal to PURCHASE.I can legally OWN a switchblade but I sure as hell can’t carry it around with me in public legally. And what is illegal HERE in the US is not necessarily illegal in some other country and the internet happens to be WORLDWIDE so why should the poster of this article be obligated to state this tech is illegal here or anywhere else for that matter?I’ts not his job to check YOUR local laws, that’s each INDIVIDUAL’s responsibility.

  6. I would only advise using a cell phone signal blocker in places where cellular telephone usage is highly annoying and socially unacceptable, i.e. a resturant, movie theatre, classroom, etc.
Otherwise, I think it would be best to leave people alone. However, in these situations, it is rather difficult to get caught or for the FCC to do anything about it. If you’re running it 24/7 out of your apartment and telling everyone about it, then you do deserve to get caught and it would be much easier to find the source of the interference to implicate you criminally.
Everyone loves to huff and puff indignatly on the Internet. The FCC can’t do anything more than try to question you (and you can refuse to talk to them) and try to take signal readings outside your residence.

  7. Basically the cell phone jammer is a device that can be used to block the signal of mobile phones within a certain area – from few meters to kilometres. Most often it is used in events where it is prohibited to speak on the phone – for example important meetings or cricket matches where the spectators can use their mobile phones to place bets which are completely illegal.

  8. Too bad the technology isn’t up to the point where you can jam all cell phone calls except 911 emergency calls a mile away, only in front of you on the freeway. When finally working up to the head of a multi-lane traffic slowdown, You will usually see the young women with their cell phones active. However, I have passed truckers doing half the posted speed and their eyes on their phone. There are true idiots among us.

  9. They are legal there for personal use at home for privacy ease dropping devices spy cams audio recorders etc.thats the purpose to protect your privacy from being violated.
