Day of the Dead Leggings

The Day of the Dead, or El Dìa de los Muertos, is a holiday that originated in Mexico. It now takes place in early November where mortals can honor and celebrate the memory of the dead. The holiday allows people to dress up, have parades, parties and visit grave sites. There is also a central icon for the occasion, and that’s the image of the sugar skull, commonly seen as food, costumes, dolls, sculptures, paintings and many other things. Also characteristic of the holiday are many bright colors and flowers. These hot Day of the Dead Leggings are covered in vibrant colors and sugar skulls, which are just the perfect print if you’re attending a Dìa de los Muertos bash. Otherwise, they are an eccentric must-have for the fall.

Inspired by the sugar skulls of Día de los Muertos. The traditions of Día de los Muertos – or Day of the Dead – date back hundreds of years to an Aztec celebration of the goddess and Queen of the Underworld Mictecacihuatl (‘Meek-teka-see-wahdl’ or ‘Meek-teka-kee-wadl’), whose job it was to watch over the bones of the departed. Sugar skulls are often part of offerings placed in homes to welcome the dead as part of the modern Día de los Muertos festival, and they look great stylised and on your legs.

Tim Burton would definitely give these pantalones calientes his stamp of approval. While skulls are usually regarded as dark and creepy, for some reason the holiday makes skulls interesting and cheerful. Wearing these leggings is like enjoying Jack Skelly singing an upbeat tune. You just can’t quite figure out why you’re drawn to it.
