This latest gadget is sort of a mixed bag for me. On one hand, it’s nice to know the ChildMinder Car Seat Sensor has been developed to make sure parents don’t have a brain fart and leave their kids in the car while they run into the mall or go catch a movie. On the other hand, how sad is it that a gadget like this actually had to be created?

I know life can get hectic. I’ve misplaced keys, forgot to pick up milk from the store on my way home, and even left a Pepsi in the car during the day. FYI: an unopened soda can and intense summer heat do not play well together. It was a sticky mess. Still, you have to be having a really bad day to forget your most precious cargo is along for the ride.

Fortunately, this handy device will act as a convenient reminder, no matter how bad you day has been. The sensor pad gets placed under the padding on a car seat, and a fob attaches to the driver’s keys. The pad detects the child’s weight, and if it’s separated from the fob by more than 15 feet while the child is seated, an alarm sounds.
