Smartphone photography has almost made cameras obsolete, and the Yozora Oekaki Art Penlight for iPhone and iPad takes another step in helping you decide to stuff your ‘old’ SLR camera back in a dark corner within your closet.
People used to get artistic and creative by using flashlights and penlights to add wacky and wild effects to their pictures but the effects could never be duplicated on smartphones or tablets because they didn’t offer the super-slow shutter speeds needed for the light effects to recorded.
There still isn’t a way to get those super-long exposures on today’s tech goodies but this little gadget does the next best thing – it allows you to add the light effects to the picture after it’s been taken.
The pens, which are available in either blue or orange, offer up to 27 different colors to ‘paint’ with, along with the ability to create straight lines, dotted lines, and color gradations. You can also turn photos into flip-book-style videos and share them on social media services with a free app, which is available in both English and Japanese.
