Quilled Paper Star Wars Sculptures

Quilled Paper Star Wars Sculptures

I can do many wonderful things with paper. I can write on it, scribble on it, crumple it into a tiny little ball, and occasionally I can even make it sail through the air and land in the garbage can. However, the creator of these Quilled Paper Star Wars Sculptures has just a tiny bit more versatility with how paper can be handled.

Quilling, also known as paper filigree, is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. Needless to say it takes a ton of paper… and patience. This particular artist has given a geeky slant to quilling, creating eye-catching pieces that transform coiled paper into Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and a Stormtrooper.

The characters are made from 65lb card stock that has been hand-cut into .25″ strips, and meticulously glued down on 11″ x 14″ bristol paper.

The Quilled Paper Star Wars Sculptures are available for $200 each at Alia Design on Etsy.com. If you’re not really into Star Wars, the shop also has quilled paper sculptures of superheroes, Transformers, and video game characters.

  1. not so much quilling as it is just gluing strips. using cricut isn’t quilling, it’s gluing strips of cardstock onto more cardstock. it’s nice, but it’s not quilling
