Cthulhu Ornament

Cthulhu Ornament

When it comes to spreading holiday cheer, it’s the Cthulhu Ornament that does it best.

Though he looks like one unhappy fellow, he spreads peace and joy to our hearts by summing up how we feel after hearing one Christmas carol too many. He also encompasses that sinking feeling after getting that post-holiday credit card bill, at which point the car coincidentally decides to break down in the snow. Bah-humbug!

Instead of “Joy to the World,” the Cthulhu Ornament says, “Destroy the World.” The representation of chaos and destruction from HP Lovecraft’s stories is 4-3/4″ tall, made of plasticized clay-dough and done up with a delightful festive Santa hat. Putting Cthulhu on your tree balances out all those happy ornaments you get from the mall. Comes with a string for hanging.

Maybe the Cthulhu is fitting for the impending doom we are supposed to experience at the end of this year. It’s all about moving past the denial stage and into acceptance. If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, right? So throw on a Cthulhu Ski Mask and open up a cold one with your Cthulhu Bottle Opener.

The Cthulhu Ornament can be found at McPhee.com for $7.50 and at the NeatoShop for $7.45.
