Where watches and wall clocks used to be made in humdrum, plain old boring designs, things are starting to get more interesting. Utilitarian designs are in, so it’s not surprising to see clocks stripped down to their core and featuring designs that are oh-so-bear yet fully pleasing to the eyes. This wall clock is simplistic and in a way, oddly minimalist, but it won’t leave your wall looking bare in any way. Each of these gears is actually salvaged from (you guessed it!) salvage yards, so your Gear Wall Clock will ultimately look different from your neighbor’s Gear Wall Clock and so on and so forth.
Auto Timing Gear Wall Clock
It’s the creation of artist Steven Shaver, who finds his creative fuel in automotive salvage yards, where each sculptural piece of metal seems to have its own story to tell. This particular cog used to be critical in regulating the timing of an engine, and now it will do the same for your home, office or workshop.
The gears come primarily from American cars – you can even look up the part number to discover its origin – and the visual detailing of the gear will vary from clock to clock. Handmade in California.
