Get ready to take your music-listening experience to the future with the Futurist’s Hand-Activated iPhone Speaker, combining an artsy aerodynamic look with motion-detecting infrared sensors.
When you play your iPhone tunes through this speaker, you can (for the most part) leave the remote alone because built-in infrared sensors in the fuselage are used to detect hand movements for controlling the volume, and a third sensor in the port-side speaker pauses or changes tracks. There’s even a fourth sensor in the nose of the speaker that turns the system on or off.
The spaceship-styled speaker uses Bluetooth to connect with your iPhone and simultaneously charges the device while providing music through the twin 5-watt tweeter “jet” speakers and a down-firing 10-watt bass-reflex subwoofer.
While the sensors let you handle basic controls with hand gestures, you’ll still have to grab the remote to fine-tune the bass and treble settings, and you can also use it to control the volume and track control if you prefer that over hand signals.
