The Popinator

Popinator

As my son is engaging in popcorn-selling as a fundraiser, it’s been challenging coming up with ways for him to excite folks about buying popcorn. Mr. Orville Redenbacher has pretty much dominated the territory by making popcorn easily obtainable at affordable prices, and has left the rest of us with nothing to work with. Thanks a lot, dude. If only we had our hands on the prototype of Popcorn Indiana’s Popinator Project, we’d be rolling in the dough kernels.

This little machine is unreal. It’s even more useful than a virtual pet because it feeds you (always a good thing) and hones your mouth-eye coordination skills. More of a robot than a machine, the Popinator is activated when you say the word “pop” and will launch a popped kernel directly to where it sensed your voice. In other words, your mouth becomes its target.

At first look, you might’ve assumed that it was another popcorn maker. However, the Popinator requires that you fill it with pre-popped popcorn, so you would have to supply your favorite varieties like Sriracha Popcorn, Ass-Kickin’ Habanero Popcorn, Bacon Popcorn, or BioFuel Caffeinated Popcorn. The Popinator is more of a sophisticated, voice-activated dispenser that’s bound to generate seismic hype among popcorn-loving geeks.
