Sorry, No More GeekAlerts – But…

Update: GeekAlerts is back!

…you will still be able to catch the same kind of news via Smidigt.se (RSS).

The blog is in Swedish, but I’m sure the large product photos together with the clear product links at the bottom of each news entry, will make it quite easy to read anyway.

The reason for closing down GeekAlerts is simply that it takes too much time – a luxury that I’m afraid I don’t have at the moment. The decision hasn’t been easy and I am truly sorry for having to do it, but I still feel it’s the right thing to do.

Many thanks to all of you readers, it’s been a great time!

Once again, sorry.

  4. Bummer! Sorry to see you go, but I completely understand. Blogging can be a giant time-suck that takes away from other things. Good luck!

  7. Hi Robert

I also want to thank you for all the cool articles.
I guess everything must come to an end.
A pity there isn’t someone to take over, but indeed posting all this information costs time an one can’t do it forever.

  8. This is so sad….(single tear rolls down my cheek).
    I wish this wasn’t true.
While I know I am prob still in denial, is there a possibility you can just redirect to smidigt? This way if you ever change your mind, (and assuming we all still use the site (I would) the loyalists will be right back!!) However, I know this is a selfish request, I wish you the best!!!
Thanks so much for all of your time and motivation, your site has always been fun and informative.
This will go down as a sad day in internet times.

  9. That must have been a very hard decision for you to make Robert. I was reading Smidigt way before Geekalerts came around and I will start following it again. You can expect lots of link love from our site. You have great talent at finding the coolest, unique things around and that is easy to understand in any language. All the best.

  10. Ciao Robert Birming!

I wish you a super lucky New (offline) Year!!

  12. You know, the first time getting the information of no more Geekalerts, I was muted. Muted for several days until today I came and give this comment.

I’m really love what you has brought us via GeekAlerts, Robert. Seeing GA is going to end is really a sad news for most of us, your fellow blogger and fellow loyal reader.

But as a friend, I’m proud that you’ve taken a brave decision and going forward with your other projects and life. Don’t worry, we’ll support you as always and will head on over Smidigt to find you. 🙂 (Although I don’t know Swedish, I’ll use google translator. Ah… I just love internet with bunch of tool to get connected! haha!)

Wish you my very good luck!
