Zeberawood is considered an endangered species as is Macassar Ebony. Birdseye maple is not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zebrawood#Environmental_issues
Thank for your link. I checked it out and Zebrawood is a threatened species in its native habitat. According to an email from Killspencer, their product is "Made out of a premium locally sourced zebrawood maple wood veneer." Feel free to contact them for more info.
