Anti Barking Device

Indoor Barking Dog Deterrent

This patented Cesar Millan in a jar device is said to be able to “quickly and humanely restore peace and quiet to a home vexed by a dog’s excessive barking”.

No special collar is required; when a dog barks within 25′ of the unit, it emits a harmless ultrasonic tone, inaudible to humans, that startles the animal into silence. The dog quickly associates its bark with the unpleasant sound, which conditions him to curb this undesirable behavior.

The unit can also be activated manually to help you correct a dog’s other bad habits, such as lying on furniture or foraging through the trash.

The Indoor Barking Dog Deterrent measures 3(H) x 5(W) x 2 1/2(D) inches and requires one 9-volt battery. The product is available from the Hammacher Schlemmer website for $49.95.

If for security you’d want your dog to signal if something happens, no? So it’s not really for security but comfort.

I have an issue with this though – since the sound is inaudible to humans, how would one notice if the device is maybe jammed and producing the ultrasonic tone non-stop? Even if it isn’t harmful it will still have an impact on the animals psyche over time I believe. But I guess that’s what the LED is there for – it will probably light up when it’s active.
It might still misfire though – not sure if it can really distinguish all kinds of dog barks so perfectly without misfiring on other sounds that are similar or eventually coming from the TV or other media.

  2. Ultrasonic anti barking devices should only be used if you have only one pet in the house. If say, you have a cat and a dog that barks uncontrollably then it is recommended that you get a citronella bark collar for your dog.
