Hey Carolyn, the webcam looks portable and vry useful for any laptop. However, it is best to check with the people at http://www.pressdigital.com.au/ first if it will work with the laptop you are planning to buy from them. A friend got some gadgets from them and the staff was very good with after sales and even helped her until it was fit to be used. I guess they would welcome any query relating to their products' usefulness. cheers!

I've had ALOT of problems trying out these various cheap import twenty-buck UVC compliant driverless webcams. They're supposed to be UVC compatible and 'just work' with Vista, Apple's Mac OS X, Linux etc. Some claim to be USB 2.0 'compatible' but the actual camera sensor is only USB 1.1 speeds. The cables can be utterly flimsy, the lenses low quality. Some have horrible sounding microphones. There's an old saying, "You get what you pay for" and most of these low-cost cams are junk. It's worth paying up for a quality brand name webcam you'll enjoy for years to come.

@Carolyn:
You should be able to make it work on Vista. Well, I know vista is a troublesome piece of software, but since the upgrade of SP1, things getting better and better in compatibility issues.

If it happened to not have a good campatibility, you still can use Vista's "Program Compatibility" to run it under XP. :)

Anyway, this gadget is really useful since it's so small and thin to fit in any laptop bag! Unlike the sphere shape webcam.

This Tiny USB Webcam is way too cool. I was just wondering if this will work fine with the HP Compaq Presario V6808TU Notebook PC? I am about to order this laptop at http://www.pressdigital.com.au/ but I am checking the features first and since there is no mention of a built-in webcam which is ok by me, I am planning to get a smaller and mobile webcam. This tiny USB webcam fits the bill to a T! I am just concerned because while it says it is compatible with Vista I heard there are webcams supposedly Vista-compatible but do not work at all when installed.
