It’s been almost 30 years since the arcade version of Space Invaders came out, and the classic video game is still often used as a design inspiration for new products. Here are four great examples of this:

Knitted Space Invaders

I’ve always been a fan of the street artist ‘Invader‘. I like the way he uses an existing form and gives it another meaning. He takes the main characters from the 1978 arcade video game ‘Space Invaders‘, turnes them into mozaiques and then sticks them onto walls all over the world. So cool, so fun, such a friendly form of street art! Love it, love it, love it!

And so I thought it might be cool if the invaders took over the world one step further, this time ‘knitty style’. So I designed knitted Space Invaders.

The Pacman duct tape wallet is here! This wallet is perfect for anybody who loves duct tape or Pacman!! It is of course, 100% duct tape, even Pacman & Pokey! Here we see Pac-Man being chased by Pokey the orange ghost.

The wallet measures just over 10cm x 10cm (thats 4 x 4 inches) when closed and 21cm x 10cm (8 ½ x 4 inches) when open. It has 3 card slots and 2 extra hidden slots for cards etc. My wallets also have a cash pocket which is held shut with a small piece of Velcro. The wallet has a long slot which runs the length of the wallet for notes/receipts etc.

Remember the Space Invaders Duct Tape Wallet from a couple of days ago. KMC Designs has now made a Tetris style version.

The tetris duct tape wallet is here! This wallet is perfect for anybody who loves duct tape or tetris!! It is of course, 100% duct tape, even the tetris pieces! The colours of the pieces are loosely based on SRS (Tetris Worlds and Tetris DS) colours. There are 2 flaws with this wallet, but they cancel each other out (thanks to my geeky house mates for pointing them out!). The pieces are light blue, red, green, yellow, purple and orange. Please do not take the tetris pieces off as they will start to loose their stick! If you leave them in place they should last as long as the wallet!

Of course, the Testris Duct Tape Wallet sold out as soon as it was up in KMC Designs’s shop over at Etsy. But there’s more to come…
