It’s not the first time this tin can astromech droid gets filled with water. Last year we could see R2-D2 as an aquarium with a built-in periscope, and now the design of the popular Star Wars robot has been used for a water bottle.

You simply tilt R2-D2’s head back to take a sip from your plastic science fiction inspired bottle, or to fill it up with water – or anything else you would like to drink.

The Star Wars R2-D2 Water Bottle will be available in April 2009 from the Japanese company Tanomi for ¥3,300 yen (about $37 USD).

Did you think the Darth Vader Statue was weird? That’s nothing compared to these two Christmas inspired Star Wars droids that the guys over at Walyou stumbled upon.

This collectible was inspired by the 1980’s Lucasfilm holiday greeting card art by Ralph McQuarrie, the concept artist responsible for much of the look of the original Star Wars trilogy. The set comes with a display base and includes a full-sized holiday greeting card.

You can get the “Star Wars Holiday Edition R2-D2 and C-3PO” from Amazon for $30.85 or over at eBay with the “buy it now” price set to $33.50.

No rest for the tin can astromech droid. It wasn’t that long ago since we saw R2-D2 as a fridge, and now this popular Star Wars character has to hold a 1 3/4-gallon aquarium tank in his central compartment.

The domed head rotates with any vocal command you issue and he utters his familiar “bleeps” from the Star Wars movies. The R2-D2 Whizzwatch time killer/time teller combo allows you to control a mini action figure of the popular Star Wars droid using a special wristwatch IR transmitter.

The geek-tastic R2-D2 Whizzwatch is a timepiece with a difference because R2-D2 is attached to its strap. Simply unclip the legendary astromech droid, pop him on your desk and use the buttons on the watch to move him around.

Although not quite as informative as everyone’s favourite overweight glob of grease, the watch itself has buttons to help you scroll through a variety of digital readouts, and you can switch between 12/24 hour displays.

Paul Strauss over at the great Technabob blog was surfing around, looking for the R2-D2 USB Mini Fridge, when he stumbled upon this awesome Artoo refrigerator.

The product has only been made in 1000 copies and they were intended as a prize for an “Attack of the Clones” contest, held at 7-11 stores in Japan back in 2002.

The ToyEast.com website has a copy of the R2-D2 Fridge that can be yours for $1,070.

Wesco Limited, a toy manufacturer in Cheshire, England, will later this year release release a projection alarm clock in the shape of the popular Star Wars R2-D2 character.

Artoo will be able to tell you the current time in two ways; with large red digits projected on your wall, or from the small LCD display located on the front of the can-shaped astromech droid.

The R2-D2 Projection Alarm Clock from Wesco Limited will be released in October and can now be pre-ordered from Play.com (£17.99) or Amazon UK ( £19.99).

The Japanese toy manufacturer Tomy has released an updated transparent plastic version of their popular radio-controlled R2-D2 mini action figure.

With the mini-lightsaber remote, R2-D2 will move forward or turn on command, rotate his dome as he rolls, beep and whistle, and illuminate his photoreceptor “eye”. R2-D2 measures approximately 2.5 inches tall, and includes batteries for the remote and the droid himself.

What makes this one extra special is the transparent plastic of both the figure and the remote control, showing the inner workings…

I’m quite happy with my current Belkin hub/dock, but anyone of these two cool Star Wars USB hubs would be more than welcome in case of a switch.

Both hubs, one in the shape of R2-D2 and one Darth Vader bust, will light up their eyes, move their heads and play sound effects every three minutes when being connected to a computer. The sound effects can be switched off.

The Star Wars USB Hubs measures 90(D) x 100(W) x 150(H) mm and will cost around $66 when they are released in Tokyo next month.

Last week we saw our favorite tin can astromech droid R2-D2 in the shape of a belt buckle. This week they have turned him and his red cousin R2-D1 into a nice pair of desktop speakers.

Someone has created a cool looking Star Wars inspired case mod – shaped like everyone’s favorite tin can astromech droid R2-D2.

You can find hundreds of different R2D2 machines and gadgets around the world, and here is one of the latest models. This R2D2 unit is not only a decent looking half-size model it is also an all-in-one home cinema machine!

The unit is capable of displaying a picture measuring 6.44 meters diagonal (254 inches) and it also features an integrated DVD/CD player plus an amplifier and speakers. National Console Support, Inc. has announced a neat low-budget alternative to that $4,000 Artoo projector you might have read about earlier.

This projector will light up your room with images of the Death Star, an X-wing starfighter, and the Millennium Falcon against a backdrop of stars.

You can choose between the blue and white R2-D2 model or the red and white R2-M5 version. Each droid projector is 15 cm (6 inches) tall.
