First of all, sorry about the lack of updates lately. I’ve been involved in a project that has taken up all of my time. But now GeekAlerts is back on track and you can expect lots of new entries about fun, cool, weird and interesting gadgets.

A few changes to the GeekAlerts design have been made. Slightly different colors, a wider layout to be able to serve you larger product photos, and gravatars (globally recognized avatars) for the comments.

Apart from visiting the actual website, you can also make sure to keep up to date with the latest gadgets and design news using any of these options:

Some of you might be aware of the fact that I’m one of the authors over at Neatorama. With the launch of the new feature “Upcoming Queue“, you can also be a contributer.

Here’s how this new feature works:

Do you have a blog and would like it featured on Neatorama? Have you ever found something neat/funny/weird on the Web and would like to share it with all of Neatorama’s readers? Now you can.

Of course, there needs to be a mechanism to separate good posts from bad ones (like spam, for instance). The Upcoming Queue makes this easy by letting you vote good posts up and bad ones down. Posts that gather a lot of positive votes will then be promoted to the blog’s front page.

Yes, that is correct! After having received a lot of feedback from all you readers and having considered my previous decision for another week, I have come to one simple conclusion: Closing down GeekAlerts would be insane!

I won’t bore you with all the details, but I can tell you this much; all the wonderful emails, comments and instant messages I received from you guys really had a big impact on me. Thank you so much for all the kind words!

I’m sorry about the confusion, but I hope to see you back here at GeekAlerts.

The blog is in Swedish, but I’m sure the large product photos together with the clear product links at the bottom of each news entry, will make it quite easy to read anyway.

The reason for closing down GeekAlerts is simply that it takes too much time – a luxury that I’m afraid I don’t have at the moment. The decision hasn’t been easy and I am truly sorry for having to do it, but I still feel it’s the right thing to do.

Welcome to the brand new version of GeekAlerts! This time this site has undergone a complete makeover with new graphics, colors and a wider layout.

Probably one of the first things you will notice is the new beautiful logo and header – both created by the talented Swedish web designer Mario Eklund.

We also have a couple of new features that you might find useful. As requested, you can now see how many comments and/or pings each post has (instead of only showing the total number). Simply hover over the ‘Responses’ link for an entry to see a tooltip about the number of comments and pings.

You will also find a new “Post Options” box towards the end of each news entry. This section provides you with links to bookmarking sites, related posts, tags and category information, and other useful links.

We hope that you like the new GeekAlerts design and the extra functionality it offers. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I know, we have already covered LED message fans like this, both in pocket and desktop versions. But I just couldn’t resist posting a news entry about this one from GizGeek, when it comes with a nice product photo like this.
