This latest USB turntable model from Ion is quite similar to the one from Veho that was released last year. Simply plug it into the nearest USB port and you are ready to start converting your old vinyls to digital files.

Featuring adjustable gain, anti-skating control and high-speed vinyl recording function, the belt-driven USB Turntables can also be connected to any home stereo with CD or auxiliary inputs. This means you can spin your records through your regular system when you’re not converting them.

Whether it’s Whitesnake, Wham, Spandau or some ancient disc belonging to your dad, the USB Turntables can convert it. And it doesn’t matter what speed the records in question are – these Turntables can handle both 33s and 45s.

The new USB Turntable from Ion is available from Firebox.com for £69.95 (about $116 USD).

The new super-tiny Muvi Micro DV Cam is the smallest DV camera in the world. This ultra-portable digital video device measures no more than 5.5 x 2 x 1.6 cm (2 x 0.8 x 0.4 inches).

You can pop it in your top pocket, switch it on to sound activated record and not only will it be discreet, it won’t start recording until it hears over 65 decibels of noise. As soon as it goes quiet for longer than 2 minutes it will save the movie file and switch off again to save power. The integrated clip on the side of the camera means you can hook it on the side of just about everything.

The camera records at 2 megapixels, which is quite impressive for something this small and the resolution is 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second all of which is saved to micro SD card. The battery can be charged via any USB socket and will give you a decent 2-3 hours recording time.

This cool looking “digital” clock, created by Software architect Steve Norris, uses a robot arm and 14 numbered cards to display the current time.

All the digits needed to display the time are located on cards positioned in a semi-circle around the left and right sides of the arm. The time itself is displayed in front of the arm. This gives the clock a “Stonehenge” like appearance. There are a total of 14 cards. Each card has two digits with one on each side. The software planner determines which card and which side is needed to display the time and then sends the necessary movement commands to the arm.

Here’s a video demonstration of the Stonehenge clock:

The video shows a time update from 12:09 to 12:10. It demonstrates all the basic movements needed to display the time. If you watch carefully you can see it execute the following movements.

This 8-inch WiFi digital photo frame from eStarling has just been updated with a new cool feature. You can now link it to your Facebook account to view your and your friends uploaded pictures right on the digital frame.

Techy stuff
Once configured, the frame can be left to operate in a completely stand alone mode. It supports WEP or WPA encryption and has fully featured TCP/IP setup supporting DCHP and manual IP. (By the way, if you don’t know what this stuff means, don’t worry, it’s all easy to sort out and set up.)

E-Mail
Once the photo frame is online, it gets its own dedicated email address that anyone you share it with can send photos to. You can secure this by only allowing pictures from specific email addresses to be displayed. So don’t worry – your Wi-Fi picture frame isn’t going to try to sell you Viagra!

Displaying Photos
Simply email any photo to the frame. It checks for new email every few minutes and puts any pictures it receives into rotation in a slideshow. It functions in the same way when receiving photos via a Flickr or Photobucket feed. You can also add or delete photos directly via the web-based control panel.

This “eye opener” of a gadget is an alarm clock come 3-piece jigsaw puzzle in one. When it’s time to leave your incredibly cosy bed each morning, not only will your ears be treated to a fantastic ringing melody, a 3-piece jigsaw puzzle randomly shoots out.

So what you ask? Well, in order to turn off a ringing alarm, you must solve the jigsaw puzzle, assembling it back on to the clock.

The Puzzle Alarm Clock ($38.35) measures 18 x 11 x 4 cm, requires 3 x AA batteries, and the time can be set to display in either 12 or 24 hour format.

Pravan Mistry, a PhD student at the MIT Media Lab, has come up with a cool way of digitizing 3M’s good ol’ yellow Post-it notes.

‘Quickies’ are stickies that have some intelligence and the ability to remind us about the task we ought to perform or to provide us at the right time with the information we captured in the past. ‘Quickies’ enrich the experience of using sticky notes by allowing them to be tracked and managed more effectively.

The project explores how the use of RFID, Artificial Intelligence and ink recognition technologies can make it possible to create intelligent sticky notes that can be searched, can send reminders and messages, and more broadly, can help us to seamlessly connect our physical and digital worlds.

Here’s a video demonstration of the Quickies:

This programmable digital tire pressure gauge from Accutire features a large backlit LCD screen, a LED flashlight, and it remembers the recommended pressure for your front and rear tires.

In addition to having an accuracy of half a PSI, this tire pressure gauge is digital…and it beeps! So what, right? Well, unlike a pen style gauge in which you’re never really sure if you got an accurate reading, the Accutire Digital Tire Gauge beeps to verify it has received a proper reading. The reading is clearly displayed for 10 seconds before the unit automatically shuts off to preserve battery life.

We’ve seen a couple of digital cuckoo clocks here at GeekAlerts earlier, and now designer Osian Batyka Williams gives us another cool example of this.

The retro modern timepiece is made from plywood and available in a digital ($58) or analog ($49) version. Visit osianbatykawilliams.com for more info.
