The CD might be dead when it comes to listening to music, but I would be more than happy to purchase a few of those old pieces of plastic to be able to enjoy the iShelf.

This CD stand concept, inspired by the famous “cover flow” user interface in Apple’s digital iTunes media player application, is created by the Chinese designer Li Jianye.

No, not a mouse as in pointing device for computers, this is a portable speaker designed to look like the small animal with the same name.

The tiny rechargeable speaker connects to MP3 players, PDAs, CD players and other digital products using a standard 3.5mm stereo audio plug. To charge it, simply connect the mouse to your computer’s USB port.

The Rechargeable USB Mini Mouse Speaker is available from the Deal Extreme website for $6.35. Cables and a neck strap are all included in the price.

A little something for all the fans of pink and retro: the portable Studebaker stereo. It features a CD player, AM/FM radio, cassette player and a design that gives a “hint of that old Studebaker grill”.

There’s a drawer-type CD player with an excellent bass boost. It plays not only commercial CDs but also self-compiled CD-R/RW discs. It has a 20-track programmable memory. You can program up to 32 tracks on a disc for playback in any desired order. You can also program a specific track to play several times within the same program, and you can use the program and repeat features together to continuously repeat a programmed sequence of tracks.

Then there’s a cassette player and an AM/FM radio with analog tuning. The cassette player is also a recorder, and you can record directly from the CD player or from the radio. The Sound Bubbler is a device that connects to your iPod, CD player, radio etc. and lets you enjoy lights and water bubbles to the beat of the music.

This might look like any of these MP3 mini jukeboxes that have been floating around in the news. This one is a bit different though, it’s over 50 inches high.

It’s been too long since we covered a superhero gadget here at GeekAlerts. It was almost two weeks since the Superman Boombox post saw the light of day. Time for change…

What to do with old CD’s (what to do with CD’s in general for that matter)? The people over at Acorn Studios came up with the brilliant idea of turning them in the cool looking clocks.

The handmade Sparkly CD Clock ($16) can be hung from the wall or used as a desk clock using the free stand provided. It requires one AA battery and measures 12cm. (4.7 inches) in diameter.

Available in 10 different colors and styles like silver crackled & red matt finish.

Created by hand using three discs, each clock undergoes a heating and cooling process to create the unique irridescent cracked effect on the surface.
