The London-based diamond jeweler De Vere’s has unveiled the Angels Tears, a diamond encrusted iPhone 3G. This stunning Art Deco inspired phone has been created by De Vere’s founder Philip De Vere in memory of his mother who died of ovarian cancer.

A number of examples are being sold to raise money for the research and treatment of women’s cancers. They are available for a limited time for about $4,000 USD.

The unlocked (by Apple) 16GB black backed 3G iPhones have 400 small brilliant cut diamonds set into the steel bezel surrounding the front screen. The majority of these diamonds are F colour, VS clarity whites, apart from one corner, which has pink diamonds that gradually fade to whites as they extend along the edges of the iPhone.

At a later date, if the owner wishes, the diamonds can be removed from the iPhone and set into custom made jewellery. A plain bezel can then be refitted to the original phone.

The Angels Tears Diamond iPhone is available from De Vere’s for a limited time.

Just like the night sky, all of my stars move and “twinkle”…even my “shooting stars” appear to move…and they are moving. There’s nothing else like it… StarMurals are truly one of a kind.

StarMurals are compelling, intriguing, awe inspiring works of fine art. Each StarMural is a custom, hand-painted view of the night sky. No form of projection is ever used…each star is plotted and placed free hand. From constellation layouts to complex views from deep space, involving galaxies, nebulae, comets, clusters and more…each StarMural is a true original.

How about starting 2008 off with a some geeky game related cross stitching?

The Sprite Stitch video game inspired cross stitch weblog has had the good taste to provide us all with a grid pattern for “Mario across the NES ages”.
Check out the Mario across the NES ages (revised edition) post.

The 1/32 scale AT-AT was created by scratch modeler Dimitri Kaliviotis.

This entry is a heavily modified ATATRON kit. The ATATRON kit is a garage kit which is not commercially available but a few models have been made over the years. I managed to get hold of one because I was commissioned to put some finishing touches on the prototype model and to make the molds for it, so later I was given one of the castings as a “bonus gift”. However the ATATRON I got was one containing mostly reject cast pieces. So Instead of repairing the reject/miscasts I decided to use those imperfections in my favor.
