Custom Pixelated Afghan – Link

Legend of Zelda Link Custom Pixelated Blanket

Knitting and crocheting used to be a hobby that we’d immediately associate with grandmas. But there seems to be some younger knitting enthusiasts out there who are whipping up fresh and geeky things. One item that has caught my eye is the Custom Pixelated Afghan crocheted to look like Link, the famous hero from the Legend of Zelda. Cue music!

Just because you’ve grown up doesn’t mean you have to hide elements of your childhood. Etsy vendor and diva behind the crocheting needle, NikisKnerdyKnitting, can customize the afghan to go with the color scheme of your home. See how handsome ‘Link’ looks atop a bed? Her afghans look cozy draped on top of a couch, too.

The item pictured has been sold and is an example. I will make your afghan to order, please allow one month for me to complete and ship it. I can make another featuring the same image or I can do any other pixelated image or character in your choice of acrylic, wool, or cotton. I charge $1 per pixel. Convo me with your custom request and I will provide you with a chart of the image, a price, and colors for you to choose from.

These afghans are hand crocheted one pixel at a time and then sewn together by hand. The one pictured took approximately 100 hours to complete.

NikisKnerdyKnitting charges $208.00 US on Etsy.com for her Custom Pixelated ‘Link’ Afghans, or $1 per pixel if you want one made of a different character. (I would probably get a Tetris screen afghan for myself.) When you do the math, she’s only earning $2 per hour with materials included in the price. Not a bad deal when you’re getting something handmade and one-of-a-kind.

As the weather starts getting cooler, you might be looking for new indoor activities. The Monopoly Nintendo Edition Board Game would be fun to play on rainy/snowy days as you wrap yourself in a soft afghan.

  1. Hi, I’m Niki of Niki’s Knerdy Knitting! Thank you so much for featuring my afghan. I just wanted to let everyone know that with each afghan I make I get more efficient and I’m approaching making minimum wage for my work 🙂 It is also work that I thoroughly enjoy! I try to keep my prices as affordable as is reasonable but no purchasers should feel guilty for paying $2 per hour.
